Westside Port Modernization

Galbraith Construction worked on various stages of the Port Saint John Westside Modernization project as both a general contractor and as a sub-contractor. Our involvements included supply and placement of delivery of over 2 million metric tonne of various sizes of rock fill and armour stone; in addition more than a million metric tonne were supplied and placed in one calendar year. We constructed two large material surcharges were installed in the previous slips onsite to consolidate the underlying soils to prepare them for the next phases of construction. Furthermore, we supplied and placed over 250,000 metric tonnes of granulars  (0-75mm crushed rock and 0-31.5mm crushed rock) and over 50,000 tonne of polymer modified hot mix asphalt. During the initial part of this project we also assisted the installation of 8 large caissons while working on barges, installed numerous large diameters catch basins and the associated pipe work while working in the tides of the Bay of Fundy. During the final phase of the project Galbraith and it’s subcontractors installed a concrete trench drain system for the 100,000 square meter project (Nearly 20 football fields in size).
